Become a Swim Official
Tanterra needs swim and dive officials! Those fun summer swim and dive meets cannot take place without multiple officials on deck. Officials are critical to running our meets; without them we are unable to hold meets.
You don't have to have been a swimmer or a diver to officiate. In fact, you do not even have to have any knowledge about swimming or diving to begin the training. After the clinic, you will continue to learn by shadowing other experienced Tanterra officials. This "on the job" training is essential, and fun. You won't be asked to work a position unless or until you feel comfortable doing so.
Earn some points! Parents can earn 4 points for training to become an official. After your training is complete, you will shadow the position you trained for. When shadowing, you will also receive the amount of points you would have received for working that position. You must complete a shadow session, or 1 session of volunteering for the position if recertifying, to receive the 4 points for training.
“I'm interested, but not sure. What's next?” Sign up for a clinic! Even if you decide afterwards that this isn't for you, you will find the session very informative and fun.
SWIM OFFICIALS CLINICS:
Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL) training covers all the basics of the officials position, the strokes, and as well as the philosophy of officiating.
